The Deal Brief
I'm Eva Chalia, a third-year law student at SVKM's NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law. My focus is M&A and corporate law - the areas of practice where legal work is most directly tied to commercial outcomes.
I currently intern with the M&A team at JSA Advocates, one of India's leading corporate law firms, where my work spans transaction due diligence, regulatory research, and deal documentation across sectors including renewable energy and private equity
The Deal Brief exists because I couldn't find plain-language resources on Indian M&A when I started exploring corporate practice. Most writing on the subject is either too academic or too superficial. This site is my attempt to fill that gap - structured analysis, real examples, and the context that actually helps you read a transaction document or walk into an internship prepared.

Why The Deal Brief
M&A is one of the most sought-after practice areas in Indian corporate law and one of the least well-explained. Law school gives you the doctrine; the firms give you the work; but the gap in between - understanding what a transaction actually looks like, how documents are structured, what due diligence involves, why certain clauses exist - is rarely addressed anywhere accessible
